Most of the time you grant access from a resource, by adding people to a space or a connector. But sometimes you’ll want the opposite view: everything one person can reach, in one place. On the member screen, you can manage which groups someone belongs to and adjust their access to individual spaces, connectors, and skills, all without hopping between resources.
Note: To change a member's access this way, you need permission to manage members, plus the ability to manage each resource you're changing. In other words, you can adjust someone's access to a space only if you can manage that space's access, and the same goes for connectors and skills. Resources you can't manage stay read-only.
To get started, go to settings, then members, and open the record of the person you want to manage.
Their screen has two tabs:
Membership, for their profile and group memberships.
Access, for the spaces, connectors, and skills they can reach.
How a member gets access
Before you change anything, it helps to know that a member's access comes from two places, and the screen shows both:
Direct access is granted to the person themselves. You manage this right here in their member settings.
Inherited access comes through a group they belong to. It's labeled "via" the group name, and you change it by editing the group, not the member.
This distinction matters: if someone has access you don't want them to have, check whether it's direct or inherited, because that tells you where to remove it.
Manage a member's groups
On the membership tab, the groups section shows every group the person belongs to.
From here you can:
Add them to a group by searching for it and choosing their role in that group.
Remove them from a group, which takes away any access that group provided.
Adding someone to a group is often the cleanest way to grant access, since they immediately inherit everything the group can reach.
Review and adjust resource access
The access tab lists the spaces, connectors, and skills the member can reach, with the role they hold on each and, for inherited access, the group it comes through.
Here you can:
Grant direct access. Use the search box to find a space, connector, or skill, choose the role or roles, and add it.
Change a role. For access the member holds directly, adjust the role right on its row.
Remove access. Use the row's menu to remove direct access. Inherited access can't be removed here, since it comes from a group.
You'll only see the option to add or edit access for resources you can manage. If removing access would affect live work, for example a connector a running workflow depends on, Tines 3B warns you before you confirm.
When adding access prompts for more
Because a connector or skill is only usable in a space when everyone with space access can also use it, granting someone access to a space here can occasionally prompt you to also give them access to a connector or skill that space uses. Approving keeps the space working for them.
For the full picture, see Why a connector, skill, or network isn't available in a space.
Everything on the member's settings is the same set of grants you'd manage from a resource's settings, just organized by person instead of by resource.
Use whichever view fits the task: the member screen when you're thinking about one person, and the resource's settings when you're thinking about one space, connector, or skill. For those, see "Create a space and manage who can access it," "Give access to a connector," and "Give access to a skill."
