Configure user preferences and defaults

How to customize your system preferences.

Written by Jamie Gaynor

Tailor Tines 3B to support your unique preferences. By adjusting your user preferences, you can control default views, workspace behavior, and interaction settings. These preferences are specific to your user account and will persist across all your sessions.

To access them, go to preferences in your settings, like this:

Default home view

Choose the specific view you want to see immediately upon opening Tines 3B.

  • Recents: Recently accessed workflows (Default).

  • Chat: Your personal AI chat conversations.

  • Branches: Active workflow branches.

  • Favorites: Starred workflows.

  • Any space: Direct access to a specific space.

These settings will take effect the next time you load the app.

Tip: Set this to your most frequently used space to get straight to work.

Default space

If you start from the recents view, you can define which space new workflows are created in by default.

Note: This setting only applies to workflows created from the recents view. If you create a workflow directly within a space, it will be added to that space automatically.

Default workflow tab order

You can reorder the tabs that appear at the top of every workflow overview to match your priority tasks. Drag and drop the tab labels to rearrange them.

The first tab in your list will automatically be selected when you open a workflow. If you primarily monitor workflow health, for example, move the monitor tab to the first position.

Chat follow-up behavior

Control how Tines 3B handles incoming messages while it is already processing a task:

  • Queue (default): Messages are held and processed after the current task finishes. Use Cmd+Enter (⌘↵) to steer.

  • Steer: New messages interrupt and redirect Tines 3B immediately. Use Cmd+Enter (⌘↵) to queue instead.

Plan mode

Plan mode allows you to review proposed AI changes before they are executed. You can configure this for different areas of the app:

  • New chats: Review plans in personal chat conversations.

  • New workflows: Approve plans when creating or editing workflows.

  • New branches: Review changes when creating new branches.

You can always override this per-conversation using the interface controls.

Follow 3B

"Follow 3B" automatically moves your view to the step Tines 3B is actively editing.

  • Follow 3B by default: Activates automatically when Tines 3B starts working.

  • Suggest following on a new chat: Prompts you to enable Follow mode in new conversations.

Tip: You can toggle this at any time by pressing Cmd+Shift+G (⌘⇧G).

Sound preferences

You can toggle audio feedback independently for three areas:

  • Chat sounds: Audio for chat messages and responses.

  • UI clicks: Sound effects for buttons and interactions.

  • Workflow sounds: Notifications for workflow events, such as runs or completions.

Browser notifications

Stay updated even when Tines 3B is in a background tab. When enabled, you will receive notifications when Tines 3B finishes a task, requires approval, or when a workflow run completes.

Theme

Match Tines 3B to your visual preference:

  • System (default): Syncs with your operating system's light/dark mode.

  • Light: Forces light mode.

  • Dark: Forces dark mode.
